Stress. Anxiety. Insomnia.

IS THIS YOU?

I don’t know about you- but I have a tendency to sweat the small stuff. A lot.
That gives me sleepless nights, trouble eating, trouble focusing. These are the hallmarks of stress and anxiety – and the insomnia they produce.

DRUGS CAN BE SHORT-LIVED AND DANGEROUS

There are many pharmaceutical drugs that may have an immediate sedative effect, but they do not address the underlying conditions – and they have a host of negative side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness, blurred vision, changes in sex drive, irregular heartbeat, and addiction. All things I’d like to avoid.

PHARMA-FREE OPTIONS

What I found for me is that acupuncture gives back energy and balance. There is a restorative power that exists in the treatment that supersedes medications and I find myself feeling better and better as I continue treatment.

REDUCES STRESS HORMONES

The US has been slowly catching on to the health benefits of using acupuncture to treat stress, anxiety and insomnia. In 2013, Georgetown University published a study that found acupuncture slows the body’s production of stress hormones. Because it regulates the body’s chemical balance naturally, acupuncture can help eliminate the need for any medication at all.

Bottom line – even as an acupuncturist myself – I’m still a patient. I have the same stressors as everyone, and am just as vulnerable to not sleeping and not eating right as anyone. When that happens – I find my nearest acupuncturist and it helps, it works.
